Book #2 Discipleship Project: Junior High Ministry

Book review by Rodrigo Ortiz, Staff

Thanks to Lucas Leys and David Noboa of e625, English-speaking youth leaders can now access a newly translated four-book youth discipleship series, previously only published in Spanish. These books are written for youth leaders (and parents) to foster transformational discipleship in youth at every stage.

Our review of the first book in the series, Discipleship Project: Children’s Ministry, is here

Discipleship Project: Junior High Ministry, the second installment in the series for children, tweens, teens, and young adults, is a compilation of lessons to facilitate transformational discipleship of children. The book begins with 10 fundamental discipleship principles, while the second half of the book includes 10 inductive and dynamic Bible lessons for leaders (and parents) to facilitate discipleship of preteens.

Every chapter includes a full lesson plan that aids in facilitating the following age-related topics:

  • An Emotional Adventure
  • Identity and Self-Esteem
  • Facing My Fears
  • The Crisis of Shame
  • Inevitable Changes
  • Truth or Dare
  • Boundaries and Freedom

In the chapter about the physiological changes of tweens during puberty, it states, “Many parents and leaders are so afraid to address these issues… they pretend nothing happens.” This book aims to avoid side-stepping awkward topics by arming leaders with tactics to lead youth with confidence. The authors also offer adaptative notes for groups that meet virtually.

The purpose of Especialidades 625 (e625) is to offer the best resources for those who work in the discipleship of new generations from ages six to 25 years old.

Lucas Leys has a doctorate in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is the founder of e625.com and is one of the leading forces of change in the work with the new generations of the world.
