Meet Your Moderators:

Dr. Sharod Tomlinson (NYC 2009) is a dedicated advocate for educational equity and college readiness. As the Assistant Vice President of Equity Inclusion & Belonging at St. John’s University, he has been pivotal in creating a diverse and inclusive academic environment. Sharod leads the R.I.S.E. Network, which empowers Black and Latinx students through skill-based development and support, enhancing their academic careers.

With a strong background in educational leadership, Sharod is a certified Gallup Strengths Coach, helping students and teams achieve peak performance. He holds a doctoral degree in Administration and Instructional Leadership from St. John’s University, a Master’s in Non-Profit Management from New School University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Wanda Novales (Philadelphia 2012) is a dynamic school leader whose life’s work bridges education, faith, and community transformation. As a member of the Philadelphia School Board, she is a passionate advocate for equity in education. Wanda also serves as Executive Pastor of City Reach Church, which includes two local campuses, one situated in the heart of Kensington—a community where hope and transformation are urgently needed.

A trailblazer in education, Wanda was the founding CEO and Principal of Pan American Charter School, an International Baccalaureate school established in partnership with Congreso de Latinos Unidos. Her extensive experience in teaching and managing in Philadelphia’s public district and charter schools provides her with unique insights and perspectives.

Wanda’s unwavering commitment to empowering others is rooted in faith, cultural pride, and a mission to create lasting change. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University in Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Cheyney University, and a Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from Arcadia University.
