Community Avengers: Urban Youth Advocacy Training

Posted by: DVULI

Youth Advocacy Training Available Nationwide for DVULI Alumni

Written and facilitated by DVULI alum Ray Nelson (YFC 2018), Community Avengers is a single-session training for youth workers to empower their youth to create a plan of action in three ways:

1) Use their advocacy voices

2) Establish a platform for positive change

3) Be heard in their communities

The training includes a three-part video designed to be viewed with youth. Also included is a facilitator’s guide with intentional prompts designed to engage youth in 30 minutes of robust conversation after each session.

This training can be presented in your ministry in three ways:

1. Self-Facilitated:

Walk your youth group through this training on your own, free of charge.

    • Step 1: Watch the Community Avengers training video.
    • Step 2: Download the facilitator’s guide to review group discussion questions based on the video.
    • Step 3: Use the video and facilitator’s guide to lead your youth group at your own pace.
