Today’s urban youth worker is no stranger to using social media to stay connected. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok can be great for connecting with young people, but urban youth workers also can use LinkedIn to connect. Here are five benefits for urban youth workers who plug in with LinkedIn.

1. Connect with Ministry Leaders

One of the best things about LinkedIn is that it allows you to connect with leaders in your field. LinkedIn makes it easy to find and network with others serving youth. By building a strong network of connections, you’ll be able to stay up on happenings from urban youth workers locally and across the country. [Follow DVULI on LinkedIn

2. Grow Your Brand

Another great benefit of LinkedIn is that it allows you to grow your personal brand. TikTok is a great place to follow the viral trend, but there’s no reason not to use a professional profile on LinkedIn to highlight your ministry skills, promotions, certifications, and other experiences with leading youth. Consider it a way to stand out from the crowd and set yourself as a leader in your field.

3. Showcase Your Ministry/Church

LinkedIn is not only for individuals but also has many benefits for your ministry/church. Does your church or organization have a presence on LinkedIn? A LinkedIn page for your ministry/church can explain your mission, showcase ways your organization serves its community, and promote community events.

4. Skill Up!

LinkedIn offers a great opportunity for learning and professional development. LinkedIn Learning is a platform offering thousands of courses on various topics, including community development, fundraising, and nonprofit management. Take courses on your own time with the option of earning certifications showcasing your skills.

5. Uncover New Job Opportunities

Finally, LinkedIn is a great tool for finding new job opportunities. It’s not uncommon for an urban youth worker to be bi-vocational. With LinkedIn, you can search for jobs that match your skills and experience and use the platform to connect. Additionally, many companies now post job openings on LinkedIn, making it a great place to look for opportunities.

LinkedIn is a powerful tool that can be used to connect with other ministry leaders, grow your personal brand, skill up, and even find new job opportunities. LinkedIn has so much more to offer the urban youth leader. If you are not using LinkedIn, create your profile and start making connections today!
