Abundant Life Church (ALC) of Cambridge, Massachusetts recently released their debut recording, Set it in Order which features the work of DeVos alumnus and trainer Virginia Ward (Boston, 1998) and LeRoix Hampton (Boston, 1998). The freshmen project on the church’s independent label, ALifeC Music, was created as an expression of the sound God desires to hear from New England says Lawrence Ward, Pastor of ALC.
The twelve selections on Set It in Order capture the many flavors present in the worship experience at ALC. With solid vocal harmonies, urban and contemporary beats, up-tempo and contemplative praise and worship songs, the project is an exciting new feel that crosses Gospel genres and has something to please every urban worship music lover.
Although the ALC project was four years in the making, both Virginia and LeRoix agree that “the process and completion of this recording was priceless.” Virginia said, “We grew a lot and it was enriching for all of us.”

As a worship leader at ALC, Virginia says her hope is that those who hear this recording will set their lives in order. “If it’s physical and you need to be more fit or if it’s emotional and someone needs to get counseling or maybe academically and there’s a need to go back to school and finish a degree, I just hope that the Body of Christ will come to a place of order,” she said.

“Set it in Order”, LeRoix, admits is his favorite track of the twelve. “I heard a sound while in New Zeeland and the flow was completely unpredictable - so I took a piece of the culture to bring it here.” He also said, “I’ve never done music like this before…it’s truly a worship piece.”

Ministering to both youth and young adults, Virginia and LeRoix have a vision to see youth develop and empowered to share a fresh expression of the love of God. Their desire is for youth and adults alike to hear the music and come to spiritual order. “This project was a step of faith, especially for a church,” LeRoix said. “It’s a testimony that if you are willing to try great things can be done.”
